Preparation for Sunday, January 12, 2020

Categories: Bible

Good Afternoon Brothers and Sisters,

Tomorrow we will look at just three verses from 1 Timothy.  As surprising as it may seem, we will see that it is sometimes necessary to fight for the faith. Occasionally we fight because we are ornery or because we don’t get our way. These are not good reasons to fight! So what are good reasons to fight? Please read 1 Timothy 1:18-20 (better yet, all of 1 Timothy) and answer this question from Scripture.
Tomorrow we plan to sing the following songs:
  • Come, People of the Risen King
  • Crown Him with Many Crowns
  • There Is a Fountain
  • He Will Hold Me Fast
  • Hallelujah, What a Savior
  • Be Thou My Vision (pm)
  • Speak, O Lord (pm)
We will conclude our service tomorrow morning by celebrating the Lord’s Supper together. Please take time to read the following passages in preparation: Isaiah 53Mark 14:41-16:8; 1 Corinthians 11-13.

Finally, please be in prayer for Betty Jones and her family. Betty’s husband for over 70 years died yesterday.  A memorial service is being planned for Lloyd during the month of February. As we get more details, we will let you know.  Also, please pray for our sister Kathy Renn. Her dad’s funeral was today. We rejoice in the fact that Jesus is the Lord of life who triumphed over the grave, yet we pray for those with grieving hearts.

I love you all,
Phil Fitzgerald
